Resolutions to Council 2015

Annual Council is the policy-making, democratic governing body of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union attended by delegates from across the province.

Each year, Locals and the Provincial Executive on behalf of committees and professional associations, forward resolutions to Council for consideration. The annual budget is set as well.

Those who have contributed to the benefit and welfare of teachers and public education in the province are honoured and every second year, the election of the First Vice-President takes place among the delegates gathered.

Preliminary Information for Council 2015

New Date: May 8-10, 2015

New Location: World Trade and Convention Center

New Accommodations: Delta Halifax & Delta Barrington

New for Council 2015

  • There will not be an orientation session for new delegates on Friday evening. This will be provided by way of a webinar which has been posted on the NSTU website. A direct link will be emailed to new delegates in April.
  • During the online registration process delegates will be asked to select their preference of a paper copy of the Council Workbook or an electronic (online) copy of the Council Workbook (resolution 2014-42). Numbers for printing the Workbook will be based on these responses. 

Additional Information:

  • There will be an election for First Vice-President on Saturday afternoon. This will be done at the same time as all other elections.
  • The Council Awards Luncheon will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in Room 200C at the World Trade and Convention Center. Email correspondence has been sent to Local Presidents outlining the procedures.
  • The President’s reception will be held immediately following Council Friday evening from 9:00 pm until 10:30 pm in Room 200C adjacent to Council chambers.
  • There is no NSTU organized function planned for Saturday evening.
